One day trekking in knuckles mountain range world heritage site (UNESCO)

7.30 A.M starts drive from Kandy (from the place you stay), passing trough industrial suburb of Kandy, the largest Victoria reservoir, kandyan home gardens, terrace rice fields , mid country tea plantations, exotic wood reforests. (According to the weather, rain and mist you could select the below options before start)

 

Option 01

Around 9.30 A.M, start trekking up to the knuckles summit on a trail through tea plantation, pigmy forest, cloud forests, and plateau with grassland. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water stream. Enjoy the panoramic view at the knuckles summit with all around the jungle. Around 1.00 P.M have picnic lunch and walk back to the place where vehicle parked.

 

Option 02

Around 9.30 A.M, start trekking up to the leopard rock on a trail through tea plantation, pigmy forests, cloud forests, and plateau with grasslands. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams. Visit the highest cascade in Sri Lanka (highest step waterfall). Enjoy the panoramic view at the knuckles mountain from leopard rock. Around 1.00 P.M have picnic lunch and walk back to the place where vehicle parked.

 

Option 03

Around 9.30 A.M, start trekking up to the Corbert’s gap view point on a trail through tea plantation, pigmy forests, cloud forest, and plateau with grassland. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams. Enjoy the panoramic view at the cobert’s gap view point with all the way thick jungle and mountain around 1.00 P.M have lunch and walk back to the place where vehicle parked.

Option 04

Around 9.00 A.M, start trekking from a historical village with panoramic views of large terrace rice, vegetables fields, Kandyan home gardens, tea plantation, colonial wooden bridge, second generation forests and natural water pool with endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams. Around 1.00P.M have lunch at the pool and trekking down at one hour or two hour trek through the a tea plantation with the view of Victoria reservoir and walk back to the place where vehicle parked.

 

*All the options arrive back to Kandy in the late evening around 5.00P.M to 6.00P.M

Option 01 

Day 01

7.30A.M starts drive from Kandy city, passing trough industrial suburb of Kandy, the largest Victoria reservoir, Kandyan home gardens, terrace rice fields, mid country tea plantations, exotic wood reforests.

Around 10.00 A.M start trekking up to the sky camp overlooking the ranges of mountain around passing the foothills of mini world end drops of the eastern part of knuckles mountain range. Walk in the jeep treks, foot paths in second generation forest, tea plantations and rice field’s dams. Arrive sky camp site in the mountain top overlooking all around sceneries.

 

Day 02

Early morning get up for spectacular sunrise. 8.00 A.M start trekking up to the corbert’s gap view point in a trail through tea plantation, pigmy forests, cloud forests, and plateau with grassland. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams. Enjoy the panoramic view at the corbert’s gap with all the way thick jungles and mountain views. Walk through thick jungle, pigmy forest, cloud forest and the plateau with grassland, crystal clear water streams. Have a home cooked lunch. Arrive back to Kandy in the evening.

Day 01

Day 02

7.30 A.M start drive from kandy to eastern foot hills of knuckles mountain range passing industrial suburb of kandy, the largest Victoria reservoir, kandyan home gardens, terrace rice fields.  Trekking start facing mini world’s end drop of knuckles range on a jeep track with the birds, eye view the eastern valley with mountains, passing reforests planted by forest department with different exotic trees with underground cardamom plantations and natural forests, terrace rice fields and waterfalls. There are many eagles and other birds’ life too. Have picnic lunch on the way and possibility for a nice rice bath. Overnight, stay at the camp in our knuckles range sky camp with panoramic view.

Day 02

Early morning get up for spectacular sunrise. Around 8.30 A.M, start trekking up to corber’s gap view point on a trail through tea plantation and natural and second generation forest. Start walk through a pigmy forest, cloud forests and plateau with grassland to a foothill plantation village. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water streams are on the way. Overnight, stay at the base camp on Knuckles Mountain.

Day 03

8.00A.M starts trekking down from base camp to one of the last king hideout village where king Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe 1796-1815 captured by British passing mid country tea plantation, reforest planted by forest department with different exotic trees with underground cardamom plantations and natural mountains forests with vast valley views. There are many eagles and other bird life too. Have picnic or village lunch on the way. Arrive village and get a nice river bath on the way and drive back to Kandy around 5.00P.M to 6.00 P.M

Option 02

Day 01

Start the tour at 9.30 A.M over the 1200m up from the sea level. Trekking goes up to nearly 1863 m from the sea level.

Start trekking up to the knuckles summit on a trail through tea plantation, pigmy forest, cloud forests, and plateau with grassland. Endemic birds, mammals, fresh water creatures in crystal clear water stream. Enjoy the panoramic view at the knuckles summit with all around the jungle. 1st day night stay at the base camp.

Day 02

Start with the watching morning sunrise and the trekking start around 9.00A.M; go through the heeloya road with watching birds, fields. End of the day 2 hour drive to Mahiyangana. That drive star in the Victoria reservoir.

As your wish you can choose where you stay at 2nd day overnight. You can choose Sorabora lake camp or veddah village camp site.

Day 03

Sorabora- Morning sunrise watch in the boat safari with bird watching above 2 hours. 8.30A.M breakfast and drive to waterfall trek up and down 8 km walk with swimming, after village lunch and back to Kandy.

Vaddah village- Early morning watching sunrise and 8.30A.M get breakfast.  Cultural dances of vaddahs’ in the jungle. Watch vaddahs’ museum and get lunch. Start drive back to kandy.

If you like you can choose the sorabora and veddah village also. That’s connecting with the third day. Then third day night you can stay on the sorabora lake camp or veddah village camp site and the fourth day, boat ride with bird watching or veddahs’ cultural presentations.
